In the interests of full disclosure I didn’t have this for breakfast. A disaster with the grill the day before meant I had to spend some time cleaning up broken glass from inside the oven and I didn’t fancy doing that before breakfast. So really this is a lunch stack but if I was doing it again it would definitely be for the most important meal of the day, which is nothing except what it deserves as the end result was almost as spectacular as the grill explosion the night before! F**k it, it’s Friday – Pie, beans and chips
As a rule I try and avoid the hot food served in the canteen at work, because it’s shite. However the thought of a steak pie, beans and especially curly fries proved too hard to resist today. So hard to resist that I’d already started eating before I remembered to take a photo!
It’s not good for you, it’s not healthy and it’s certainly not the kind of food most people would blog about. But it’s Friday so who cares?
Guess I’d better go for a run tonight to work it off though…
Goulash
Another pig recipe! We had some diced pork in the fridge which was going to be for kebabs, but I fancied trying this instead. It’s kind of based on a paprika pork recipe I got from a book when I started cooking but I never really liked it. The book’s recipe only called for half an hour or so of cooking which meant the pork was tough and the whole dish was really bland. This is a jazzier version with softer, more tender pork from the longer cooking and a massive flavour boost from the chorizo. Continue reading “Goulash”
The Bay, Stonehaven
After getting a good kicking at a taekwondo tournament in Montrose on Sunday (a long, frustrating day which saw me go out in the first round of every event) I decided to cheer myself up on the drive home. As I just happened to be going past Stoney I decided to head to the beach for a fish supper. Continue reading “The Bay, Stonehaven”
Sam’l Smith Organic Best Ale
This is the kind of beer you should give to friends that still drink lager. It’s a gateway drug in the world of ales – crisp, refreshing, full of flavour and very, very drinkable. Continue reading “Sam’l Smith Organic Best Ale”
