What am I going to have for tea tonight? That’s a question that takes up a lot of my time. For inspiration I’ll grab a few books and flick through them or trawl recipe websites hoping something jumps out of the screen. But often the best inspiration is my own memory of a dish I’ve eaten somewhere. This sea bass dish is my version of a restaurant dish I had at Sea Breezes on Skye. Sea Breezes, Portree
When we spent the weekend in Skye recently top of our list was checking out some first class seafood. There’s no shortage of places to choose from, especially in Portree. Candlestick Maker Restaurant in Aboyne
It was Angela’s birthday last week which gave the perfect excuse (as if we needed it) to go for a slap up meal. I’ve driven through Aboyne a lot recently on my way to training with Deeside Runners at Glen Tanar and noticed a small restaurant which looked interesting. We checked it out online, booked a table and jumped on a bus heading west.
The Candlestick Maker in Aboyne is a small restaurant overlooking the village green. In previous lives it’s been a butchers and a bakers so you can see where the inspiration for the name came from. The restaurant promises a menu (£24.50 for two courses and £28 for 3) full of local produce which changes daily. Continue reading “Candlestick Maker Restaurant in Aboyne”
Lemon and herb crusted sea bass
There was a Scotland game on tonight (0-0 against Lithuania, good performance but we should’ve won) so I needed something quick for dinner before the game. Quick, relatively easy but also fancying something I hadn’t cooked before my thoughts started turning towards fish. Continue reading “Lemon and herb crusted sea bass”
