Stumbling across some local honeycomb

On a long bike ride through sunny Deeside I happened to pass a house with a hand painted sign outside simply saying “For Sale Comb Honey”. Well you have to stop to check it out don’t you? I pulled up to the side of the house to find an elderly gentleman who keeps a few bees and when he has an excess of honey (didn’t happen for him last year but this year has been a bumper one apparently) he packages up a few sections of honeycomb and sells it for a fiver from his house. Watching the Scottish cup final and getting ready for the champions league final by relaxing with some homemade pizza and some kriek. Perfect lazy Saturday.

This is possibly the best pizza I’ve ever made.

Homemade tapenade on freshly baked bread

Here I go with another holiday inspired post! Don’t worry I’m sure I’ll get sick of these soon and return to normal service.

One of my favourite things that I brought back from Nice (part 2 of that report is coming soon by the way) was two jars of tapenade. Now I love anchovies, olives and capers and will happily take any opportunity to combine the three in some kind of food. Be that in pasta sauce or on top of pizza. Scallops, pea puree and sweet potato crisps

Masterchef is about to start a new series so in homage to the show I cooked up a dish that always seems to make an appearance on some contestant’s plate, scallops with pea purée. I could have just served them with peas and mash but I’m quite conscious that I’ve blogged a lot of dishes served with peas and mash recently!
