Lochnagar

We finally climbed our first munro on Saturday – the majestic Lochnagar on the Balmoral estate near Ballatar.

It was a long day and you can read the full report on the excellent Walk Highlands site but here I’ll just post a few of the images from the walk. Unfortunately we seem cursed with clouds on summits and found ourselves walking through a whiteout for the second time in a row (we had the same rotten luck on Morven recently.

Thankfully we made it to the summit safely and were finally rewarded with a breathtaking view over Loch Muick as we descended below the cloud again.

Our legs were pretty tired by the time we got back to the car over seven hours after we left it. But despite the lack of summit view it was a great day and I’m well chuffed at finally getting a munro under my belt and achieving that goal I set myself earlier in the year. We’ll just need to go back again on a clear day to check out the view!
